I admit as a former player and coach I never really understood what goes on in a scrum. I do know that without a good front row it will be hard defensive day for the backs. That is why the development of dedicated scrum training areas, in conjunction with world leading scrum machine suppliers, Rhino Rugby, is such an exciting step forward in rugby training facilities. The first Mini Rhino Park was installed at Bristol GS and is used by the various age groups for scrum and lineout training.
With Saracens leading the way to synthetic turf acceptance with their full size 3G stadium pitch, the need for training areas at rugby clubs will increase. Already several Premiership clubs have synthetic turf rugby training fields and now National One club Rosslyn Park has installed its own Rhino Park.
